Building the Largest Ship In the World, South Korea

The Maersk Triple E is the largest ship ever built, the pride and joy of the largest shipping company in the world. The ship was a huge hit with the public last year when it docked in Copenhagen for a week, 50,000 people visited, tours were given and an exhibition about the boat was made. It towered above the Copenhagen skyline, and like most of the rest of the population of Copenhagen I went down for a look at this monumental machine. I didn’t get on board that time – the tours sold out long before the ship arrived – so I went one better and persuaded Wired to send me to South Korea to photograph it being built, with unprecedented access to the shipyard and a completed ship.
Why France is drowning. Guy Sorman
Instead of choosing a leader in the mould of Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan, France elected a series of statist Presidents, from the Left and Right. Instead of deregulation and flexibility, all political leaders in office, without one exception, increased taxation and regulation. The climax in this counter-intuitive trend was the 35-hour working week, brought in by Martine Aubry in 2000, and reduced from 39 hours under Mitterand. The logic stands on the flawed lump-of-labour theory, which states there is a fixed amount of work in an economy; restricting overtime therefore creates jobs for the unemployed. The law still stands, despite its ineffectiveness, because no government dares to erase it for good.
Amazing Graphics Show How Much Fruits Have Changed Since Humans Started Growing Them. Chelsea Harvey

Native to China, the original peach was only a fraction of the size we're used to today and tasted "like a lentil," Kennedy writes. "After 6000 years of artificial selection, the resulting peach was 16 times larger, 27% juicier and 4% sweeter than its wild cousin, and had massive increases in nutrients essential for human survival as well."
Entrevista a José Mourinho
